I simply cant decide to go with either the .177 shooting at about 1000 fps or the .22 shooting about 680 fps.At these speeds which one will have more power. Also i want to be able to make long shots and im not shure if the .22 will shoot accuratly at 680 fps.

    Please help!

the .22 moves slower but has a greater punch, the .177 will probably travel farther, but packs a smaller punch.

If you want to make long shots, go with the .177.

.22 cal air gun? The .22 cal lr is what you need it shoot about 1255 fps and it's not an air gun but its not too loud. If your going to be shooting in city limits go with the air gun but if not just get a .22, as far as air guns go always get the higher fps.

For range and accuracy I'd go with the .177.
For hitting power I'd go with the .22, for hunting squirrels cottontails, blackbirds, etc.

Air gun manufacturers are moving towards standardization. Guess what? Their choice is .177. No one can argue that .22's deliver more punch... as an air gun caliber. But there are a lot of to choose from the .177 pellets, including some that are comparable in power to .22's. And the velocity is way up there too. Although .22's will not be obsolete any time soon, they are going the way of the dodo. Choose .177's.

the faster the velocity, the greater the momentum and it will strike down any thing in its way..
    so i will suggest .177
