I am planning to get a Benchmade 710 concealed and I am 14 my dad is getting it for me for my birthday gift. He justs wants to know if it is legal for me to carry one around. Because I go biking and skateboard around a lot and lately a bunch of people I know have been jumped for their bikes or boards and some of them ended up with bruises a little bleeding and such. Right now I carry my pellet pistol with me but not sure if that is legal either. So how old do you have to be to carry one?

umm, your breaking the law carrying your pellet pistol and you would also be breaking the law to carry a "concealed" knife.

Depends on the blade length and where you live. Laws vary by location. When I was growing up in a small town here people carried big buck knives to school. But when I moved to the city the school took my knife and called the cops. You would have to check your area. Google it or something. I knife is a bad form of self-defense for a city kid though. BB guns are usually illegal to shoot and carry in most cities.
If you learn a martial art you can usually find ways to use anything as a weapon. I would get pepper foam though. NOT pepper spray, it is useless.

The above link will display your state's laws about carrying a knife. Almost all states have some sort of prohibition about carrying knives. Some outright outlaw the knife, others limit the law to the type of knife.

Carrying your pellet pistol as a defensive weapon, especially if you have it concealed, is going to get you arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. That is big trouble.

Want to carry a perfectly legal weapon? Carry a screw driver. You can repair your bike or skate board and, if needed, a four inch long flat blade screw driver is a formidable weapon. Another option is a Leatherman Tool. It is primarily a tool set, but does have a knife blade in it. Not as quick to use as the screwdriver though.

well first off a knife will be useless in a fight unless you can use it PROPERLY without chopping off your fingers

now for your question i think the legal age is 18 or 21 but its the same for a pellet pistol

but if you are 14 and youve been carrying it around and you haven't been caught it shouldn't be such a big deal
but just in case, have a ready excuse for having them in case you somehow do get caught and a plan if you have to ditch them cuz ull be searched or something
some schools will automatically expell you if they find a weapon on you
my high schools librarians son got expelled for taking a Swiss army knife on a field trip hike

and ill just say this again cuz its important
DONT pull out a knife in a fight if you dont know how to use it
it can be taken and used against you, and escalate the fight to a point that your enemy will feel the need to seriously hurt you
    and it just seems stupid

so yea just be careful carying it and learn to use it and youll be fine

Unless you are trained in knife fighting, do not try it. You will run into someone who will take the knife away from you and use it on you. It is not leagal for you to be carrying a pellet gun either. Besides, it is not effective as a personal protection device. You might slow one attacker down but before you could get off a second shot, another attacker will take the gun away from you. Best advice is to find a different place to do your skateboarding or have some one with you who can control the situation. A knife or pellet gun will only get you into serious trouble.

The age to get a concealed carry permit is 21 everywhere. It is a Federal law. Once you are 21, you can get a permit that will allow you to carry a weapon that will be a proper weapon for self protection.
