I already understand the law in Ohio regarding them but I need to know the cheapest way. I have no problem building one from the Receiver but would prefer not to build a Sear gun (if it breaks, im boned) Thanks!
Jagerman... do you or anyone else know where someone can get the regestered receivers? |

You can not legally build a fully automatic machine gun in the United States. Section 922 of the National Firearms Act, prohibits machineguns (any weapon capable of firing more than one cartridge per trigger squeeze) manufactured on or after May 19, 1986. Furthermore, modification of any semiautomatic weapon to render it fully automatic or even capable of firing 'bursts' is strictly forbidden and subject to penalties of up to a 100,000 dollar fine, 10 years in prison, or both.
In other words, don't do it.....it's not worth the risk. |

hes right. you cant build one, period. no more full autos can be made or brought into the country after the '86 nfa act. you need the 200 dollar tax stamp and a LOT of money, since the artifically reduced supply has sent costs through the roof

You can still build one with a registered pre-86 sear, but the sears are so expensive it really doesn't make any difference and like you say... if the sear breaks or is defective you are screwed out of a whole lot of money, whereas if you bought a machine gun with a registered receiver you could replace the sear easily. If I were you and had the money I would just buy a registered receiver and buy up some parts kits so you always have replacement parts down the road. The receiver isn't going to break if you take care of it. Sears and other parts will fail due to wear eventually, especially if you plan on getting a Mac. Those have such a high rate of fire they tend to eat up sears.

Cheapest way into machine guns is the Mac-10
No other machine gun can be bought for the price of a Mac-10. Like everyone else said, Senator Hughes BONED us in 86 with his " it didn't really pass but I will lie and say it did ": Hughes amendment to the Firearms Owner Protection Act. So there is no manufactyring a completely new gun. |

If you have the legal standing (over 21 with clean record) and the bucks to back it up as a serious customer, just contact your local NFA Class 3 dealer, and I'm sure he'll help you aquire anything on the market you want, including walking you through the paperwork.
