Normal average rocks have such random shapes that they're not aerodynamic and therefore they will tend to fly off course. they will be difficult to aim and control.
Just look what David did to Goliath. That was, according to Brother Dave Gardner, " A smooth flat round river rock." |

anything but i find pennies to be the best but if your trying to kill something then use big metal bb's i bought one box of them in Canada you can try online but there big bb's not the lil ones you put in an air gun

marbles and sinkers (lead fishing ones) are the best.
and way more accurate and higher velocity than rocks which fly around in the wind too much. |

the results will be inconsistent at best..the rounder the better.Steel ball bearings are the best ammo.
